Firefly Solar helps Marc and Phoebe turn sunshine into their own power source
“Firefly didn’t just install my panels. They created a power source for me.”
Marc and Phoebe had always seen solar as a realistic goal, and they jumped on it once it was widely available. Firefly won them over by being responsive, and Marc calls the engineering and permitting experience that followed absolutely excellent.
Mornings, coffee, and a woodworking shop
Marc is an early riser, usually up between 6:30 and 7. He takes his first coffee up to his office to catch up on the news. It’s just Marc and Phoebe at home these days; the kids are grown, with homes and families of their own. Marc’s favourite hangout is the woodworking shop attached to the house.
Why did Marc and Phoebe go solar?
Solar was never far-fetched for Marc and Phoebe. When it became widely available, they jumped on it right away. For Marc, cost was only one part of the picture. He sees the system as part of the house.
What he enjoys most is where the power comes from. Knowing that a large portion of the power the house needs every day now comes from the sun on his own roof feels great to him, and he has been watching the numbers climb since the system was switched on.

“To change UV and photons into watts and kilowatts, and now after 31 days, megawatts. That feels great.”

How did Firefly compare with other solar companies?
Marc spoke with other solar companies before choosing Firefly. He says Firefly met and exceeded his expectations by not being what the others were: Firefly was responsive and kept in touch with him throughout.
Once the financing and approvals were wrapped up, Marc worked with the rest of the Firefly team, from engineering to permitting and every department in between. His verdict: “It was absolutely excellent.”

Marc & Phoebe shared their own experience. Every home is different: your system, costs, and bill credits depend on your energy use, roof, system size, utility rates, and available incentives.
Video transcriptWhat Marc & Phoebe said on camera, lightly edited for readability.
I’m an early riser, usually 6:30-ish, 7:00 o’clock, anytime there. My first coffee’s sitting behind me here. And then up in my office, catching up on the news. It’s my wife and I, Phoebe and I. Kids are all grown, have homes of their own and their own little families. And I love woodworking, so I have a nice woodworking shop attached right behind me, and that’s my favourite hangout.
Solar energy was never far-fetched for us. Cost is one thing, but that’s added to the value of the house. So I consider that in the bank. When it became widely available, it’s something we jumped on immediately.
To know that a large portion, and more than what I need, of the power that I require every day is generated from a source that is free financially feels great. To change UV and photons into watts and kilowatts, and now after 31 days, megawatts. That feels great.
The only thing I will say is that Firefly met and exceeded my expectations by not being what the other two were. They were responsive. They endlessly contacted me. After we got the financial stuff out of the way and the approvals out of the way, then once I started dealing with the remainder of Firefly, engineering and permitting and all these different departments, it was absolutely excellent.
Firefly didn’t just install my panels. They created a power source for me.
